ECB’s new website takes the leading edge

Written 23.06.08 by: Sally Smith

We are pleased to announce the launch of our brand new website for the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The new site is a radical departure from all that has gone before with new technologies like YUI and AJAX making content presentation cleaner and user journeys smoother.

Ecb Redesign Success

The main objective of the redesign was to restructure ECB’s extensive content into clearer, more coherent sections. The ECB is involved in many aspects of cricket and a lot of this work was going unnoticed on the old site. As well as more obvious information about grassroots cricket, there are also more special features for England fans; including photo stories and full-length interviews with England players which utilise rich media.

Across the site better sign posting and linking has been employed to support the diverse needs of users. The search tool has also been refined and a user-friendly sitemap is within easy reach wherever you browse – allowing for speedy navigation to key areas of the website.

Julian Goode, New Media Manager, at the ECB said “We are extremely pleased with our new look site. The modern, crisp and clear design encapsulates the dynamic and innovative nature of the ECB brand; while the navigation better reflects the many facets of the work that ECB does at national, county and grassroots level”.

Michael Featherstone, Project Manager at the OTHER media, said “We’ve been careful to build a future proof website that can scale and grow for the ECB over the next 3-5 years. Behind the scenes, we’ve also consolidated the functionality that has been added to the CMS over the years to increase performance and administrative efficiency. This site is all about making life easier, both for site visitors and ECB staff.”

Established in 1997, the ECB is the single national governing body for all cricket played in England and Wales. Visit their new look website at www.ecb.co.uk
